ubuntu upgrade report

I finally upgraded my old Dell Latitude C610 laptop from 6.06 to 8.04. I’d been wanting to for a while now but never had the time. Yesterday I saw the offer in my updates and thought, sure… Then it said this will take 8 hours and download 1 GB of data. Eeks. Oh well, I was going to the gym anyway, go for it. The upgrade was about as painless as could be. A couple prompts to overwrite some customized config files, but nothing important. The only changes I’d made were to try to get the monitor resolution to something that my 19″ NEC wouldn’t complain about. Once all the downloading was finished, scripts ran for a while, and when I checked it this morning, it was done!

Looks pretty much the same, even saved all my custom theme settings. Oh, except that it now supports 1280×1024 resolution! And, it’s still much faster than my windows xp IBM T43p.

daniel vs. jay

Bella and I are watching Season 2 of Project Runway and we’re sad to see Daniel kicked off in the lingerie show. His was the only set that looked like sexy lingerie! Santino’s was truly the ugliest, but he is a good designer even though his attitude is really ugly, and I liked Daniel V’s too (really I just like that he’s slavic). ~~Emily~~ Diana is kind of cool with her scientific approach and her set was ok, but she’s bound to be kicked off soon too.

Curious to watch season 1, where Daniel with auf’ed in the first challenge, but it’s nowhere to be found on the torrents! Maybe I can sneak it into the Netflix queue… meanwhile I went to check out the season 1 winner’s site, and can it be that this guy is selling T-Shirts????

And totebags that look like Target went Rainbow? This was the WINNER?????

Meanwhile, we adore Daniel Franco…

400 g flour
200 g sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp amaretto

Focaccia
1 pkg yeast
1 cup warm water
2 tsp. sugar
3 c. flour
1/4 c. canola/olive oil
rosemary
garlic
parmesan cheese

Pesto
2 bunches basil
several small cloves of garlic
handful of pinenuts
1.5 oz romano cheese
drizzles of olive oil

Pasta
1 c white flour
1 c semolina
2 eggs
2 Tbsp olive oil
Water of some sort…
