Last restart for us today! Dodger and I got a last minute assignment to John Stetson’s team. The dogs were mostly nice, though Dodger’s was named “Zaster” — short for Disaster, they said, “because he’s crazy.”

Jeff King is one of the big names to bet on, along with Lance Mackey and Martin Buser… They sort of remind me of a Nascar drivers.

Our second restart is a German musher, Rudi Niggemeier. He was very excited about his first Iditarod. We talked to him for a bit. At first I held the lead pair, then traded off with the musher handler. One of the dogs, Stevie, in that pair was really excited and snapped at my hand after [...]

We’re assigned to Eric Rogers for our first restart. His dogs were all extremely calm and sweet. There was a handler for each dog and we easily walked up each section to the chute. Eric was very friendly too.
