Jealous that my grapefruit are in SF and I am in Cambridge, I decided to do some infusing anyway with the blood oranges I got at the coop this morning on our way home from the airport. Look at them — totally purple!

In my mom’s backyard… I pointed out to her that she has a ton of olives overflowing from the neighbor’s tree… she’d never noticed. But she does harvest their peaches too! Very kind of them to plant their fruit trees next to the fence

Recipe from David Lebovitz’ Holiday email. I did the 2-loaf pan variety, although i might have baked it a little too long. It wasn’t quite as moist as i thought it would be, but very tasty nonetheless, I think. And the boys at Dodger’s house loved it!

STUFFA, The Marinade
4lbs boneless bottom round or rump roast
2 toes garlic
8-10 whole cloves
1 bay leaf
1 t. whole black peppercorns
6 whole allspice
1 liter dry italian red wine
1/4 c. butter
4 T. olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
