In case you didn’t know, here’s the SFGate article with way too many comments.

And by the way…in order to kill something to start over again? If it goes corporate? How about this: DON’T PUT YOUR MONEY IN IT. Going to a place a committing a crime (no matter how IRONIC it might be) does not support your cause. Didn’t any of these hipster kids in bear suits and face paint who hang out at The Anon ever watch The Selma marchers? The Bus picketing? Not supporting products by not buying….oh wait. That would take someone with clear thought who isn’t snorting whippets.

Shaun Landry was the Climate Theater manager that flaked out on us, went incommunicado for months, then returned to blast us for using the theater that we paid for. Shortly after, she disappeared again and we became resident theater company.

Now she’s back to give Paul a piece of her mind. Five comments on one article in 6 hours!!! Dang girl, get a life!

Now here’s a couple good ones:

I love it that people are getting IRATE about this. His move was the ultimate DADA act. The perfect move. In the days of global warming burning man is a colossal waste of resources. Thousands of RVs driving thousands of miles, thousands of generators, tons of materials making so called “art”, all to go up in flames. Does anyone know the carbon footprint of this event? The premature destruction of the man, maybe that says it all.

Woo Hoo! A $300 corporate owned, police patrolled event promoting self expression as long as you don’t piss off those in charge which is allegedly anarchic…Is this oxymoronic, ironic, or just plain moronic? Bravo Paul, express yourself and good luck with the feds. And as for us naysayers: how many of us have wasted words, energy and time on this, yet significantly more important events (e.g. war, poverty, healthcare) get few comments.

I love that it burned. No sacred cows. Buy your $300 ticket, your $300 feather boa, platform boots, vinyl pants and glitter, spend $500 on wood that you’re going to burn later for your shade structure/art piece, another $300 on drugs, drive your motor home to your specially reserved spot and have your 7 days of creative time. It’s time there was some well-placed anarchy at this oh-so-carefully orchestrated party…any time an event like this becomes too predictable, it becomes stale. Of course, easy for me to say from the comfort of my Bay Area apartment. But then, I’m allergic to dust.
