To end the night on a humorous note, i had this conversation while walking through Place de la Bastille on my way home:



Obvious Tourist: [saying something incomprehensible...]
Me: Excuse me?
Tourist: Oh, can you tell me where the Bastille is?
Me: Um, this is Place de la Bastille…
Tourist: But where’s the Bastille?
Me: Well, it used to be here, but it was destroyed in 1789, you know, the French Revolution and all…
Tourist: There’s no memorial or anything?
Me: Well, the Opera’s there now, which opened in 1989…
Cute french girl in a corset standing next to him: winks and smiles at me…

I think she was supposed to be his “guide”… oh well, back to work!
